The schedule for the 27th edition of the FIBA-Asia Championship has been released.
On August 1 (Thursday), Gilas-Pilipinas will take on Saudi Arabia on opening night that will also feature the matchup between powerhouses South Korea and China.
On the following day, the Philippine basketball national team will take on Jordan, followed by a duel against Chinese-Taipei the next night. All Gilas games will start at 8:30PM and will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Out of the 24 total games in the preliminary round, 18 will be played at the MOA Arena while the other six will be held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
After the preliminary round, the top three teams from Group A (Jordan, Chinese-Taipei, Saudi Arabia, Philippines) will form Group E together with the top three teams from Group B (Japan, Qatar, Lebanon, Hong Kong). Group F, meanwhile, will be determined by the top three squads from Group C (China, South Korean, Iran, Malaysia) and Group D (Kazakhstan, India, Thailand, Bahrain).
The last two nations standing from Group E and Group F will advance to the quarterfinals round, which will begin on August 9 (Friday).
